The Splash sculpture, 21 meters tall, was designed by Program Collective and developed with fluids and dynamic simulation systems by Pere Gifre for EXPO ZARAGOZA 2008 from the original concept of the design team PROGRAM COLLECTIVE, formed by: Mona Kim, Todd Palmer, Olga Subirós and Simon Taylor, for the exhibition designed by PROGRAM COLLECTIVE, “Water for Life”, at the Water Tower Building, EXPO ZARAGOZA 2008 (Spain).
The structural calculation was done by engineer Jose Maria Velasco of AMATRIA and the construction by PQC under the direction of PROGRAM COLLECTIVE
It was formed from 135 independent and entirely computer generated pieces to represent the force, beauty and dynamism of a drop of water hitting a surface.
